Why Coat Your Pool Deck or Patio?

Slip-Resistant Texture

A textured flake finish stays safer underfoot when wet than bare or painted concrete.

Stays Cooler in the Sun

Lighter flake blends reflect heat, keeping pool decks more comfortable on bare feet.

Sealed Against Water

A fully sealed topcoat resists pool chemicals, chlorine splash-out and Florida downpours.

Hides Old Concrete

Covers cracks, stains and pitting in aging concrete without a full tear-out and repour.

Pool Deck Guide

Pool Deck & Lanai Coatings Built for Florida

Pool decks and lanais take a beating in Florida: all-day sun, chlorine and salt splash, standing water and wet bare feet. A properly installed pool deck coating covers stained, cracked concrete with a slip-resistant, UV-stable finish that is easy to hose clean and holds its color.

How we coat your pool deck

1. Inspect and repair. We walk the deck, check drainage and look for cracks, spalls and hollow spots, then repair them so they do not telegraph through the new finish.

2. Prep the concrete. Failing paint, old sealers and loose texture come off first. We diamond grind, never just acid etch, so the coating bonds to clean, open concrete. Why it matters: concrete surface preparation.

3. Base coat and flake. We apply the base coat and broadcast decorative flake in the color blend you choose.

4. Slip-resistant topcoat. We finish with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat mixed with anti-slip texture, so the surface resists yellowing in the sun and keeps grip under wet feet.

5. Cure and walk-through. Most pool decks and lanais are done in 1 to 3 days, depending on size and repairs. We give you exact times for foot traffic and furniture before we leave.

Recent lanai and porch projects

Pool deck refinishing has been one of our core services from the start. A few recent outdoor examples from Sun City Center and Ruskin: a screened-in lanai finished in a charcoal, gray and white flake blend, a busy blend that does a good job hiding dirt; a front entry porch in a light tan flake that keeps the area bright and cooler underfoot; and a covered porch in a blue-gray blend. Every one started with the same diamond-ground prep we use on garage floors, so the coating bonds to the concrete instead of sitting on top of it.

Why pool deck coatings fail, and how to avoid it

Most peeling pool decks trace back to coating over old paint or loose texture, skipping crack repair, or using an indoor epoxy that yellows and chalks in direct sun. Proper prep and a UV-stable topcoat solve all three.

Cost and timeline

Most pool decks and lanais in the Tampa Bay and Sarasota markets fall in a typical 2026 range of about $6.50–$7.75 per square foot, depending on size, crack repair and how much old coating has to be removed. Good To Know

Pool Deck Coating FAQs

Will a coated pool deck be slippery when wet?+

We mix anti-slip texture into the topcoat, so the surface keeps grip under wet feet. We can add more texture around steps and the pool edge.

Will the coating fade or yellow in the sun?+

We use a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat that resists yellowing and fading. Lighter color blends also stay more comfortable underfoot in full sun, and we help you choose one at your estimate.

Can you coat over my old pool deck paint or texture?+

Often, but not directly. Peeling paint, old sealers and loose texture have to come off so the new system bonds to the concrete. We check your deck and explain the prep at your free estimate.

How much does a pool deck coating cost?+

Typical 2026 ranges are about $6.50 to $7.75 per square foot, depending on size, repairs and removal of old coatings. Final pricing follows a free on-site measure.
