What Is a Metallic Floor

A Floor That's Truly One of a Kind

Metallic epoxy uses pigments with a pearl or metal-like sheen mixed into a clear epoxy. After grinding and priming, we pour the color and work it by hand with rollers, brushes and air to create movement: marbled veins, lava-like swirls or a soft, cloudy look. Every floor comes out different.

Metallic floors are glossy and smooth, so they're best indoors: car garages, showrooms, bonus rooms, studios, bars and retail spaces. Where sun reaches the floor, we finish with a UV-stable clear coat, and we add anti-slip additive where the floor might get wet. Comparing looks? See flake vs. metallic.

Planning a Metallic Epoxy Floor

Designing your look

Most metallic floors use two to four colors. Pick a base color that fits the room, then one or two accents for movement. We talk through the look you want, show samples and photos, and plan how the colors will move across the space. Because it's hand-worked, the final floor will be unique, not an exact copy of a sample.

Why prep is so important

Metallic floors are smooth and reflective, so cracks, patches and low spots can show through. We diamond grind, repair and level carefully, and test for moisture. Details in concrete surface preparation.

UV and yellowing

Standard epoxy can amber in sunlight. Where sun reaches the floor through a garage door or windows, we finish with a UV-stable clear coat. More in UV protection for Florida floors.

Good To Know

Metallic Epoxy Flooring FAQs

What is a metallic epoxy floor? +

It's a clear epoxy mixed with metallic or pearl pigments, poured and worked by hand to create marbled, three-dimensional patterns.

Are metallic epoxy floors slippery? +

They're smooth and glossy, so they can be slick when wet. We add anti-slip additive to the topcoat where needed.

Can I use a metallic floor in my garage? +

Yes. Metallic floors are popular in car garages. We finish with a UV-stable clear coat near the door and recommend a flake floor if you want something that hides dust better.

Will my floor look exactly like the sample? +

It will follow the colors and style you choose, but every metallic floor is hand-worked, so the pattern will be unique.

How much does a metallic epoxy floor cost? +

Typical 2026 ranges are about $8 to $11 per square foot, depending on size, repairs and design.
